Open Dental offers several features to chart orthodontic hardware and track ortho treatment progress.

In the Chart Module, click the Ortho tab.

The Ortho tab lets you easily see and chart information relating to the patient's orthodontic treatment.

Filters

Choose what is displayed when in the Ortho tab in the Chart.

Tooth chart ortho mode: Easily switch the graphical tooth chart to view the facial/buccal view of the teeth and only Palmer tooth nomenclature.

Show Ortho grids: Determine if the ortho information or chart progress notes are shown.

Show Graphics: Show ortho hardware, like brackets, wire, and elastics on the graphical tooth chart.

Hardware

Chart orthodontic hardware, like brackets, wires, and elastics for easy reference. Hardware is shown on the odontogram and in the hardware list. Hardware is charted by exam date and you can easily switch between dates to view prior hardware details.

Prescriptions: Customize ortho prescriptions to easily chart hardware on multiple teeth in just a few clicks.

Add Single: Easily add hardware to specific selected teeth.

Copy: Copy hardware from an existing exam, so you don't have to rechart all hardware at a new visit.

Hardware Tab

View all hardware information for the selected exam date. Hardware can be edited or deleted from this list.

Ortho Chart

The Ortho Chart can be opened in a new window or viewed from the tabs in the Chart.

• Patient Fields: Customize this section to view pertinent patient information at a glace.
• Ortho Info: Easily see a breakdown of the patient's treatment time.
• User / Signature Area: Ortho chart notes are automatically assigned to the logged-on user and can be electronically signed.
• Ortho Chart: Enter applicable treatment or visit notes that are distinct from the regular Chart Progress Notes.
