These technical steps explain how to create an exception for the OpenDentalEConnector (eConnector) application to allow it through the Windows firewall.

1. Open the Windows Control Panel and click System and Security.
2. Click Windows Firewall Defender.
3. Click Advanced Settings.
4. A new window will open. Select Inbound Rules.
   
5. On the right, click New Rule.
6. From the list, select Program, then click Next.
   
7. From the options, select This program path, then Browse.
   • The default location for the eConnector file is C:\Program Files (x86)\Open Dental\OpenDentalEConnector\OpenDentalEConnector.exe.
   • Once the location is entered, click Next.
   
   
8. Select Allow the connection then click Next.
   
9. Select your profiles. You may need to consult your IT department for appropriate profile selections.
   
10. Enter a Name and a Description (e.g., Open Dental eConnector), then click Finish.
