Merging Providers

The Merge Provider tool can be used to merge duplicate providers. Merging permanently assigns the merge into provider wherever the merge from provider is assigned, including on historical claims. It also removes the merge from provider from the Provider List. To run this tool you must have the Provider Merge security permission.

Note: To reassign patients from one provider to another, consider moving or reassigning providers instead. See the Provider List.

  1. In the Main Menu, click Tools, Misc Tools, Merge Providers.

    Show Deleted: Check this box to select from hidden and deleted providers.

  2. Provider to merge into: Click Change to select the provider that will remain.
  3. Provider to merge from: Click Change to select the provider that will merge into the above provider.
  4. Click Merge.
  5. To confirm the merge, click Yes. If the full names or NPIs don't match, you will be notified and informed how many patients and claims are assigned the merge from provider.
  6. Click OK to proceed.

A Done message will show when the merge is complete.

Providers that have been merged into another provider are still viewable in the Provider List. Click Show Deleted.

The merge from provider assignment will not be replaced in Public Health Screening Tool or LabCorp HL7 lab orders.
